Mercy – Life in the Season of Dying

Ten years ago, during an extended season of death and dying, I began to write a book about the painful privilege of walking with far too many friends as they prepared to die. My journey with them was intensely personal and altogether unsafe. As I grieved and reflected on their deaths, what began to take shape were insights into living. I was surprised by the many gifts of life God was still giving to my dying friends. On many occasions, I realized that the dying were living better than I was – they were more fully alive, more fully present, more keenly aware of what was important and what was needed. This book is filled with their stories, their wisdom and their tears. I am happy and relieved to tell you that this book, 10 years in the making, has finally been published and is soon to be released. There are many helpful and very good books about the dying process and about coping with loss and what to expect as one journeys through grief. This is not one of those books. Faced with the certainty of death, Mercy reveals the possibility of new life. If you are interested in finding out more about my book, please visit peterroebbelen.com
